Professor Robert McLachlan is a consultant andrologist and has played a central role in Healthy Male since its inception as Andrology Australia in 2000. He has served as Medical Director since 2006 and has been instrumental in shaping Healthy Male’s clinical and public education work.

Over a career spanning more than 30 years, Professor McLachlan has been deeply committed to improving understanding of male reproductive health among both clinicians and the wider community. His work has focused on normalising conversations about sensitive health issues and encouraging men to seek timely support from their GPs.

A past President of the Fertility Society of Australia, he has strong links across fertility practice and has been a leading advocate for recognising and addressing male infertility within IVF care. He has received multiple awards for his clinical research and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2016 for services to medicine in the field of endocrinology. In November 2020, he was also awarded Life Membership of the Endocrine Society of Australia.

Professor McLachlan was an author of the Guidelines for the management of male infertility.
