Associate Professor Tim Moss is one of the world’s most influential scientists, and has a knack for turning complicated health and medical information into things that people can understand and use to help look after themselves.
Tim has a PhD in Medicine from Monash University, and experience and expertise from more than 20 years’ work in medical research and academia, which he uses to find and interpret reliable, evidence-based information.
Tim applies his natural storytelling ability, and skills in communication learned from training at the Alan Alda Centre for Communicating Science and School of Journalism at Stony Brook University (New York), to produce engaging, interesting and educational content specifically tailored to his audience.
In the same way that Tim uses evidence as the basis of the content he creates, he crafts his messages in ways that are established as effective for achieving his communication goals.
Tim’s communication style is best illustrated by his answers to questions for Healthy Male’s ‘Ask the Doc’ articles and Instagram reels. He provides trustworthy, practical advice on a wide range of health topics, that is easy to understand, even for complex medical issues. Tim’s personable nature encourages people to engage and ask the questions they might be hesitant to bring up elsewhere.
Tim also authors regular research reviews, covering a range of topics relevant to the health and wellbeing of Australian men and boys, for anyone with a professional or personal interest in male health.
When Tim’s not working towards improving the health of Australia’s men and boys with Healthy Male, he spends his time with his two sons, wandering along beaches and getting as close to the front as possible at live music gigs.
