Jacqui Macdonald PhD is an Associate Professor in the School of Psychology whose research focuses on fatherhood, perinatal mental health, men’s mental health and access to health systems. Her work draws on longitudinal research across the lifespan, with a particular emphasis on lifecourse pathways from boyhood to fatherhood and the intergenerational influences shaping parents and young families.
Associate Professor Macdonald co-leads Lifecourse Sciences within Deakin University’s SEED Lifespan Strategic Research Centre and leads the Men and Parenting Pathways longitudinal study, examining men’s mental health and wellbeing in the context of family life. She also leads the MRFF-funded project 1 in 10 men, focused on improving prevention and treatment for paternal mental health problems. She is convenor of the Australian Fatherhood Research Consortium and serves on Movember’s Global Men’s Health Advisory Group. She is a founding member of the Australian Men’s and Boys Health Alliance, a scientific advisor to Ten to Men, and a fellow of the Intergenerational Cohort Consortium.
